On Wednesday at around 2 pm, Ljubljana police received a report of a workplace accident at a construction site in the city centre. A 41-year-old worker was doing carpentry work when he fell through an opening on the first floor of a building. He hit the ground after falling about six metres.
Paramedics took him to UKC Ljubljana, the University Medical Centre in the capital. According to the police, his life is in danger. The published information does not say what injuries he has.
The police do not say exactly where it happened, mentioning only a construction site in the area of central Ljubljana. Dnevnik reports that it is said to be the Emonika construction site, but the police statement does not confirm this.
Police officers examined the scene and are gathering information on the circumstances. They will report their findings to the State Prosecutor's Office, and a labour inspector was also notified of the accident. The statement does not say whether the opening was secured. The inspector will have to establish that.
Police officers carried out an on-site examination and are continuing to gather information on all circumstances of the event, and will inform the competent State Prosecutor's Office of all findings. A labour inspector was also notified of the event, (translated)
